Any of the Maya Angelou biographies are good. I agree with Diary of Ann Frank too. The other one I'd recommend is Frauen, it's actually collection of short biographies about women in Europe during the Third Reich.

If you like stories about people who have overcome great challenges, try A Child Called It by Pelzer. It is not a light hearted book but rather deals with the horrible experiences of his childhood. The good part is that he came through it . I've also heard a lot of good comments on Running With Scissors and The Burn Journals.

Woman in the Mist

It's about Diane Fossey, she worked with gorillas in Africa. It was later made into a movie. I don't normally read biographies, but I liked that one a lot.

These books aren't really a true biography, but they are very intersting to read. "Diary of Anne Frank", and "Diary of Helen Keller" . They both have great history facts if you are into that sort of thing.

Mrs. Lindbergh's book is considered an outstanding inspiration because she writes out some very comforting words from her own experiences with the kidnapping of their son. If you read it and get nothing from it, I would be astonished.

I love autobiographys, and I think some of the most intriguing ones are based on famous heirs like Gloria Vanderbilt or The Brach heiress.
