I've already tried Sno-ball, and Limeaway-- neither cleaned it completely.. They helped slightly but the ring is still there..

Had the same problem from a toilet that had set for months..used everything and nothing worked. Until I used The Works-toilet bowl cleaner. You can get it at Wal-Mart or most major grocery stores. Had to use it a couple of times buy the water stain and dirty ring was gone. Now that is all I ever use in all my toilets..let it set and then brush and flush! Hope this helps..

Mix baking soda and alcohol in a dipper. Put very little alcohol to make a paste. Put the paste on the stains, let it stay for a few minutes maybe five. Then brush it with the toilet bowl brush. This will not scratch the ceramic and will remove hard water stains.

I just swish it. You can get a small container for your toilet brush and put a few drops of soap in it. Mr clean or dish soap or shampoo. What ever you happen to have. Each morning while your in there anyway take your brush out and run it around the toilet a few times. While your still there you can swipe the sink too. It usually takes me less than a minute to do both and I never have to clean the bowl out because it never gets a chance to get dirty. If I don't swish it no matter what I use it comes right back.
I got this idea from flylady.net

I clean houses part time, and one of the people that i work for has water stains really bad. I use "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner on it and it works instantly. You can get it at wall mart or the family dollar store. You may also want to get your water tested. You may need a water softener.

you need to inspect the ring around your toilet bowl carefully. if those products you have used doesn't take the ring away then your bowl is etched and there is nothing you can do except replace the bowl. what i mean by etched is that the shiny part of the porcelain has been eaten away and what you are seeing is the rough part of the bowl. that usually happens when you leave cleaning solution in the bowl for a long period of time. it eventually eats the porcelain.

Use a pumice stone. You can get them at the grocery store in the cleaning section. It will take away all the hard stains.

Here's a little secret from my mother and I couldn't believe it until I saw it for myself. Put on some rubber gloves and get a fairly rough piece of sandpaper or some steel wool (brillo pad) and wet it in the bowl and scrub it right off by hand. It doesn't scratch the bowl either. Comes off like magic!! Please don't use pumice stone it will scratch the porcelain and you'll get stains that won't ever come off. Take my advice and do a little wet sanding you'll be glad you did.
