I have an BA in Marketing, but I am thinking about pursuing an MFA in producing films, but I really don't want to have to go to through another 4 years. If I want to get a Masters in Film (MFA) in CA, how many years would it take? 2 to 3? or all 4 years? Please help! And any additional information would really help. Thank you so much !

In general an MA will take two years of full time study, more if you go part time. However, there are some cavets here.

1) If the school requires certain prerequisite and your BA did not give you these...you will need to complete them before the school accepts you. This can take you a semester.

2) If the school requires a thesis or other independent project. It can take you a year or more to complete this if you have not planned well or if you take on a project that requires more time.
