This is a small office with one "master" computer with all the files set to share and two computers that read from the master. This third computer cannot seem to find the shared files.

Try using your home or small office network wizard. Go into My Network Places, and there should be a link for 'Set up a home or small office network.' When you get to Workgroup Name, try using the same workgroup name as the other computers. To find this on another computer, right-click on My Computer, then go to Properties. Click on the Computer Name tab and it will tell you the Workgroup Name.

I hope this helps!

In most businesses you simply can't just plug any computer into the network and expect to have access to network resources. If a domain structure or Novell structure is used at your office, you will have to speak with a member of your IT department to appropriately setup the computer.

You must belong to the SAME "WORKGROUP" or DOMAIN [if server controlled].

As the other person said, an Administrator may have to add your PC to the domain.

Open a DOS window & type:
ipconfig /all

Compare the listing from PC the works & the problem PC. That will tell you a lot.

Depending on the organization - you may have to have permissions to join the network. If your corporation is large, you may have to talk with your IT give to give you proper login to the company server.
