cannot transmit tax return. could be firewall. how to disconnect?

I agree with RLH.. right click and choose "shutdown" option...
after you are done sending your taxes.. reboot your computer to restart your firewall...
If you have a fairly good firewall, you may be able to set the settings for your tax software in order to allow it to send your info...
check under your firewall settings.. should be something like "program control" with settings for "access" and "server"

Without knowing which firewall you have I can not give you step by step suggestions. However most of the time if you right click on the firewall icon next to your clock, you will get a shutdown option.
