Its a 2000 Ford Ranger off road 4x4 with 4.0 engine. Just wondering if anyone has had the same electrical as me. When I start my truck the dome light stays on untill I start moving then shuts off after about 20secs in drive. When I get to where I'm going get out and lock the door it stays on 20mins untill it times out.
I checked my doors and all are closed. one of the back doors does stick when trying to open it. The door ajar light has only started coming on recently. Any Ideas how to fix Thanks

It's a bad door switch. When the dome light goes off, open your doors one at a time. The light will go on for every door but the one with the bad switch. Since you'll have to wait for the light to time out every time you open a door with a good switch, better bring a six pack.

try this, spray wd40 up into the door where the catch is, try to get back behind all over the place, the switches are in there and i had one where the light wouldnt go out and sprayed some up in there and slammed it and opened it 10-15 times and it came loose and never had a problem again. it was a 00 ford ranger also hope it helps

Is it possible it is a time delay light that has just started working?
The time is what is curious because it sounds a lot like the light in the Chevy Van 3500. I never timed it, but 20 second sounds about right. Comes on when you get in, and stays on till I insert the key.

Possibly a door switch. Check a haynes manual for replacement. Not that difficult. But i also havent seen it...so cant tell you for sure.
