I heard simon cowell makes money off of american idol winners. true?

Someone told me the record company they win a record deal to is his. And that also, the contract for american idol states that he makes like 30% of what you make in for about 5 or 6 years afterwards? something like that. is this true? or false?

seeing as he is the one that brought the show over here from the UK that wouldn't be surprising that he would make some money off of it....

it's true that he makes money off every person who wins off american idol I read it somewhere that he get a percentage off everything they make
