Your supply is either 110 or 220 (120-240)How many wires do you have at your supply?? What color are they??White is a common ..Black and Red should be the other two colors..Black and Red will go to the appliance. Is there a Green. In essence the White and Green will end up attached to the Ground buss bar in the cellar( service panel) Some appliances have just a two wire hook up. There should be, somewhere on the unit, a place for the Green wire to attach for a bonding/ ground connection...Without the ground lead attached you may get one hell of a belt out of the cook top. Deadly...

Some stoves have a 110 volt receptacle or perhaps a 110 volt light or timer. If yours does not then you don't need the white wire. Just put a marrett ( plastic wire nut you can buy anywhere) on it and put it aside. Make sure you have a ground wire ( usually bare copper or green) attached as well as the red and black.

Wirenut the extra neutral wire since it is not needed in this instance.
You can disconnect this neutral wire from the neutral bar also if you wish since in this instance a neutral is not needed, freeing up a spot on the bar if space is a problem. If not it will not affect anything if you leave it capped in the box...Remember safety first!

as the aussie said...Cap it off...and anyone that thinks just because a wire is red..or.blue.or.chartreuse...that it should be a hot..are very apt to get fried...killed..smoked...if you ain't got a meter...and don't know how to use it...call a pro...carpentry is a hobby...voltage is not...
