When a computer is not fast enough, of course there could be different reasons. One reason is that there are programs that run in the background everytime you start your laptop, but you won't know it. If you go to Start, then Run, type in MSCONFIG. This will open System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup tab. You'll see many boxes checked. These are the programs that run in the background. Just uncheck the ones you don't want to start up. But make sure you don't uncheck your anti-virus program! Otherwise, it won't start up! Click Apply, then OK. Then restart your computer. When Windows starts up, a message box will appear. Just check the checkbox and click OK. See how that works for you!
Also, you may want to clean up unnecessary files. Follow the instructions on this site I provided. It may help dramatically!

The easiest way to speed up your computer is by doing these simple tasks:
1) Manage your startup programs. For people who aren’t familiar with editing the windows registry I suggest this tiny freeware program: Startup Optimizer: http://www.download.com/Startup-Optimizer/3004-2086_4-10529547.html?tag=tab_scr
2) Defragment your hard drive. This can be done by going to Start Menu > Programs > Accessories > System tools > Disk Defragmenter. When the program loads go to your primary C:\ drive and click Defragment. Be patient as it could take hours if this is your first time.
3) Clean your registry. Programs are abound offering solutions. A popular choice is Registry mechanic. The latest version can be found here http://www.download.com/3000-2094_4-10190447.html
If you want more invasive and technically complicated solutions to get the most from your system feel free to email me at davincicoded@yahoo.ca for some free advice. Best of luck in your efforts!

Most likely cause of this is to many startup programs. You can manage them by going to Start>Run>type msconfig>enter. Now click on the startup tab. You uncheck items that you do not need to start.
