It's a self-esteem issue. If you are very attractive, then maybe deep down they think they're aren't "good enough" for you, whether it be because they feel they aren't as good looking as you are or whatever. The bitchiness is a result of them trying to warm up their self-esteem: it makes them look like they're in control instead of the attractive guy. That's my two cents, although I'm sure many would be disagree and maybe even offended.

You state that the girls don't know you're gay. It may be that the guys don't either. That would explain the furtive glances you've caught in the mirror... they're checking you out but too scared to ask you out in case you aren't gay.

As to the ones you've asked for coffee who've demurred, could be the same thing. They may be wondering why this straight stud is asking them out. Maybe you're just too butch for your own good.

Perhaps letting them know flat out that you're gay and interested would put them at ease? I frankly find it hard to fathom anyone turning you down, but then NYC is a different world....

I guess i could rationalize with you.
Although not ALL homosexuals act "like little bitchy schol girls"
It appears the majority that you have met do, oh well.
They buy into the steretype they think they need to have in order to fill their imaginary persona of a gay man. They think that just because they're gay they can't act like any other man because that would be considered "hiding in the closet" and they have to live up to the sterotype like that one gay guy...christ what was his name? he's on "Everyone Loves Raymond" or some show like that where the guy is queer. *Queer in the sense where he lives the stereotype*. I myself am Bi and i don't live up to the stereotype. But i can sympathize.

Maybe you're so hot you make them nervous...
:)

In a more serious note; I think that that's a defense mechanism, if they act like the regular girls then they are living up to the stereotype of a gay man.
However, that's just my opinion, and i got it from studying defense mechanisms gays adopt when coming out of the closet.

What you need is a real man like me to ask on a date. I would cut through the chase and get down to business with you in a New York minute. I like your 6 pack pal. Hmmmmmmmmm.

With a gay guy, there's always that constant insecurity that the person they are looking at isn't in fact gay. there's the fear that you could be making someone feel uncomfortable or that that guy's gonna kick your *** if he's a complete bigot.

Maybe they saw you talking with those women and think you're not really gay after all, and are only trying to humiliate them or pull their strings.

Or maybe they're just idiots.

Maybe you're not asking the right sort of guy out. You're going after boys, what you need is a man.
