Alright, today was my second indoor soccer game, and we had 2 minutes to go when I had to take a free kick. The moment I hit the ball, the uppermost region of my thigh popped (I could actually hear it pop as well as feel it), and I was in so much pain I had to hobble off the field and leave the game. Throughout the day it has progressed from hurting just where it popped halfway down my thigh. I looked a little bit, and I think it might be a hip flexor but I am not sure. Do you think it is a hip flexor injury, or could it be something else? Please share. Also, how long would it take to heal a hip flexor injury, or even just a muscle or ligament injury? Thanks!

There is a very strong band of muscles that extend from the top of your hip (towards the front, on the outside) down to the outside of your knee. The is called the "IT Band" - IT = iliotibial. Runners and cyclists know it very well, but normally it's associated with pain at the other end (knee).

If you pulled it then you will be sore for a couple of weeks or more. Ice for 2-4 hours, and then heat for 48 hours, and a medical exam if you still are having problems after that.
