I love people that I can visit with because their English is clear enough for me to understand, but yet, they have this strong accent.
When my husband was in the Military, I met other wives from other places besides the US. I miss so much Lillian from Scotland. We each had a boy & girl the same age. We had so much fun and I laughed at her accent all the time and she knew I loved her and her accent.
Is your husband smiling with a look of love for you when he makes comments ? Then he's lovingly teasing & loves the sound of your voice.~~~If your husband is like angry or his voice appears disgusted or the comments seem degrading more than loving to you, then that is in no way love comments.
~~~ If you can, comunicate your feelings about this subject to him, and if your husband loves you, he will listen & not want you to feel anything but love from him.
~~~For me it would be difficult to stop because I think it is so charming. So be patient with us who appear to be rude.
Truly, We love you. !!!

How does it feel to you? If it gives you the warm fuzzies because it makes you smile, great. If it makes you feel he's making fun of you (or whatever) let him know what you're feeling. Or, you can ask him why he does that (preferably not right after he's done it but at a time when you're both mellow and chatting). Sometimes knowing the other person's motives helps. Unfortunately, no one knows other than him.

Thank you for explaining what a lilt is... I had never heard of it.
As far as your husband teasing you.... if he knows it bothers you then it is wrong. Children tease to be mean. If you haven't told him this bothers you then he may not know. He may just think it is incredibly cute.
However, if you have told him it bothers you ... and he continues to tease you... he is just plain MEAN.... nobody should be teased for "being different".

He's not teasing you to hurt you, but it sounds like he's over doing it. Sometimes people take jokes too far and they go from being laughing with one to laughing at one. If you 've told him he's crossed the line and he keeps it up, then perhaps you need to sit down and have a serious conversation. If he can't honour your feelings, then he's in the wrong.

I don't think he means any harm, but if it bothers you, and you tell him it bothers you, and he continues to do it, then he is not acting lovingly toward you. That's just not nice. Some people think it is funny to tease the one they love. It is only funny if the person being teased finds it funny as well. You could ask him if what he is saying is meant to be funny, because if it is, then he might want to joke differently so that you could laugh as well.

Silly girl,
when he teases does he smile? Or is he angry???
Sometimes, couples do that...It's all in fun..HOWEVER
if it is no longer fun to you, which perhaps it isnt because you are posting the question here, then perhaps you should tell him, and when you do- tell him in a serious manner, how it hurts your feelings...Hope this helps.

I have a similar story with my wife it's cute and I like it so I comment with a tease. It's done out of love. If it really bothers you ask him to stop.

You apparently are blessed with something to flatter! Lucky you. They say mimicking is the highest form of flattery! I wonder if he is worth flattering that way? Could you find something about him to immitate back to make it even? lol
