She has already done so much in the US but it hasn't been appreciated by those she helped so she did stuff for people that actually want it and will be helped by it.

This school that Oprah has built in Africa is an All Girls school. She is educating the young black women who have no freedom so that one day they may have some freedom. She does good things for the americans all the time. She has built homes for displaced Hurricane Katrina victoms and this is called Angel Lane. And what you think the Americans need so much of is needed 20 times worse by those in Africa and other impoverashed, aids ravished countries. Oprah is offering education to those who would otherwise not receive any and she's accepted between 125 and 200 people for the first term. Watch and See if she doesn't start building more schools...Just give her time. No IPODS are not available in Africa...so what...I live in Canada, they are available here and I don't want one. Children in Africa are far more concerned about starving to death, dying, etc than they are over material items like IPODS and Cell Phones.

I think it's great what Oprah has done for Africa. The people of Africa suffer greatly. With that said I was saddened by some of Oprah's comments about American children.
There are many needy, deserving children in this country. Many of these kids and families would have LOVED a chance to go to a good safe school.
It's disheartening when a person of Oprah's caliber has basically given up on OUR children. She has sent a poor message to OUR youth....

Well whether you know it or not Africa is of the richer continents. Africa is rich because of it's resources, and because of the more educated areas than the ones that you see on television. When some people think of African they think of little kids running around hungry, dirt roads, and everyone having aids. This is not all true. Africa is where you will find some of the richest people and some of the poorest. Because of all the stereotypes and negative images of black people, some just turn their backs on these people. Oprah on the other hand uses her resources to help. Oprah does not only people in Africa she helps here too. In fact she helps the most here in the U.S. I applaud her for not being stingy with her money. I agree though about the one big school, she could have built more smaller ones spread out to be able to reach more, and yes we need to educate our own children (Black, White, Asian, etc.)

She has done a lot for individuals, families, and communities and the U.S. Oprah is one of the few celebrities that actually shares her wealth and gives back to the community. What other billionaire do you see going around building schools in Africa, schools that probably wouldn't exist if someone had not contributed personal money. I do agree with you that their are people in America who are needy but there are others as well across the globe who would probably not agree with that statement. I don't think that Americans can fully comprehend the poverty and despair that people in other nations exist in. I think that as long as she's not limiting her charity to specific groups, the public should be happy that there are people in the world who are willing to make contributions to others.

Actually if you go to Africa, you will see that a lot of the kids have cell phones, but they live in shacks, my friend went there, she is a doctor that goes to third-world countries, and they had pictures and you would see kids on their phones. Something needs to be done about material items, especially in places with such bad poverty.

Yes there are many senior citizens who have a difficult time. I guess since we are old that we no longer matter. Bless your heart. Oprah at least tries to help someone.

Well, she can do what she wants. At least she is helping people with her money. How many mega wealthy Americans have done half the good she has? It is typical American thinking to want more and overlook what has been done.
