The play was modeled after the life of the Author who grew up in Chicago. But the movie put Rydell high in a California Town and added all the disco moves and music.They don't specifically say that it is in California in the movie, the only location they give is the name of the school... It's a great way to ruin a classic film John Travolta was AWESOME in Grease, Justin and Miley can't hold a candle to Olvia and John. And it's not that I have anything against Miley and Justin there just kids If I was 16 and millions of dollars were waved in front of my face to make a cheap remake you better believe I would do it but John Travolta at one time was/is a very talented film star it would just ruin part of his legacy imo. But of course it could be worse what if they wanted Miley and Justin to remake Pulp Fiction??

The school scenes in Grease were filmed at Venice High School and Huntington Park High School (except for the carnival scene, which filmed elsewhere).
