We are almost positive our son-law has this syndrom and we are so afraid for our daughters life. He has already broken her neck and ankle and he just refuses to let her divorce him. My husband went up to Alaska last month to help her in court but the judge said that she just didn't have enough evidece to render a divorce and that she either let him back in the house or she would have to let their two year old daughter go with him two weeks out of the month. He had no where to live since our daughter had gotten a restraining order to keep him 200 feet from her and the baby so the judge said he didn't care about that. She could do one of two things either let her crazy husband back in the house, drop the restraining order or he wou;d have to go out get a place and take the baby anyway. What can we do? our daughter is back down here with family now where she has lived for the past 15 months with us. The only reason she went back this last time is because he told her he would get help. Mom

Keep VERY good records of everything - when it happened, hospital treatment, etc.

Get a VERY good attorney who knows what s/he's doing.

Get your daughter into counseling with someone specializing in these issues so that she can learn how to keep herself safe and how to get out.

Good book for her maybe is, "Why Does He Do That?" It talks about how abusers don't change and if they get "help" they essentially learn how to be more manipulative abusers.

Good luck with this.

Are you sure about what this syndrome is? But anyway I think he is just a mentally insane criminal that should have been locked up already for breaking her neck. Did anything happen to this nutcase for that? I would try to get permission to take the baby and your daughter from the court and bring them home and then she would be able to go to court in the county that you live in. I would also try to get a really good attorney. I know that it is expensive but if you don't it could cost you her and the babys life. Get busy calling and find out what has to be done to get her and the baby home, and get that restraing order in motion again.

I'm sorry for being insensitive, but should you really be trying to justify his actions with a "syndrome" title? This man sound like an abusive bully with a very violent temper. There is no other way of putting it. Make your daughter see the light before he ends up murdering her.

Well he lied he won't get help if he knew he had a problem before and still did it he has a problem, your daughter can ask the court for him to have supervised visitation rights.
