Even if you are racist you must admit that there is no honor in cheating. it proves that if you have to cheat then you are not as powerful as you think. I just wanted to hear answers from people to see if they would try to justify or call it what it is. And if it is deemed as racism then you cannoit fault a black person for acknowledgning it. If black people owned a media network than the playing field would be leveled. Personally i am successful, have my own business and a great family. I just wanted 2 hear different opinions.

It could have been the T.V.and nikes in the black's buggies.If you are so sucessful then I assume you have a television and could see that the vast majority of the looters were black and it wasn't food they were after,Don't try to justify it by making covert racist suggestions.If I were a business owner I would have wanted the whole lot shot,regardless of color.

I think it was because a lot of blacks (and some whites and Latinos, too) also carried off TV's, stereos, etc. The black community in New Orleans already had a national reputation for lawlessness long before Katrina. How well that reputation was deserved I don't know. Maybe the media played up to that perception, or misperception.
On the other hand, I don't think it helps to overcome racism when many of the top figures in black entertainment constantly glorify violence and crime. What kind of ideals are those for young blacks to grow up with?

What about the trailer trash poor whites who shoot each other up everyday in jail. for selling cocaine, Mary J, ex, Crystal Meth, serial killers, Lawyers,doctors and prominent political office holders who are raping little white girls and boys everyday. You racists ' should talk about that also. What about the big corporations who steal billions from hardworking whites everyday.You see the question was basically if you saw it then why? Yes black people were looting whites were looting and Hispanics. But for some reason there were only pictures of blacks. It's as if they deliberately block out whites when they commit the same crimes. They try to brainwash everybody into thinking there are only poor blacks who commit crimes. But thank God 4 Jerry Springer every year he shows hundreds of trailer trash poor whites who commit about every crime as poor blacks. There were pictures of blacks w/food labeled looters and whites w/food labeled finders. Its just a shame the way some whites conveniently see what they want when they want to..You still hear whites speak of how much they hate O.J. Simpson for killing that white woman but never about any James Earl Ray for Martin. That is why you should not trust someone because they say they are not racist. Action speak louder than words. And the answer is because they are weak.

kk , I dont remember it that way,, correct me if I am wrong, but I saw reports of white people taking food and drink,,and I saw reports of blacks taking tv sets and dvd players,,,Did I watch and read the wrong articles??who knows??
The media will spin any program any way they can to get the headlines,,headlines mean money and that is bottom line anyway you look at it
but if you want to get into katrina, what about the feds not letting the blacks cross the bridge (proved not true)
what about the rapes and killing in the astro dome(proved not true)what about the stupid mayor letting the school buses flood(true) what about the stupid mayor telling the bus company they didn't need help (true)
what about the stupid people in easy re-electing the stupid mayor

The only people I heard callled looters was the ones grabbing tv's, electronics, alcohol and other non neccesities. Although concidering the circumstances I don't know if alcohol wasn't a neccessity.

I think that some blacks were portrayed bably butt they were the ones victimizing other people including other blacks.
Some blacks were portrayed positively too.
Person portrayed the worst? GWB and the head of FEMA

The media will ALWAYS portray African Americans as "savages" in a time of distaster. There were White people who were looting but they didnt have to stare down the barrel of a shotgun like the African Americans had to...its such a shame...
