i always hear people argue about with music is better, witch type of computer is better (apple or windows), what COLORS are cooler, religion (yes religion is an opinion. since we dont know FOR SURE what happend, no matter how many clues we might find, we have not gone back in time to see), and many others.
i mean, its a freaking opinion. its not like we can prove any of those things. if they were arguing about witch type of music most people listen to sure... but they arn't, they're arguing about witch one is 'better'. (by 'they' i mean just about everyone at my school)

I think people need to argue about opinions for a couple of reasons; firstly just to engage in interaction with other people. Second, people want to impress others -their friends, and also people who they are attracted to. Sometimes people take an unpopular opinion just to show that they are independent free-thinkers, and not just following the crowd. Sometimes the opposite is true -people agree with others to fit in. This is not just young people old geezers like myself often have "bumper sticker" conversations -where nothing new is expressed, just tired old slogans. Finally, saying stuff out loud helps people form their own opinions. Good for you for thinking about this!

People don't always debate to try and proove that their opinion is better. Debating is a good way to draw out opinions, and ideas so as to better understand your own. Arguing however, is another matter.

as of colors? they need to grow up!
and y cant athiests just accept im a christian and deal with it? feeling a sence of security, love, and importance is a good thing and idont see the need for them to try to change my mind.
-just ignore them and walk away if u have to. its a dog eat dog world out there. just try ur best to be happy.

'cause people like being right and when someone else's opinion contradicts their own they feel it's their responsibility to correct them. And arguing is fun.

they are actually defending themselves. they are insecure, and try to make everyone else look stupid to build themselves up. and its not limited to opinions, it can be seen in almost every aspect of some people's lives.
