I have noticed that stupid people always tend to be really happy. Smart people it seems to me have lots of depression problems. Einstein proclaimed that he was an intellectual success, but an emotional failure. Issac Newton, the man who basically created modern physics, was notorious for being depressed. Newton never even had a girlfriend because of his depression. William shakespeare was an alcoholic. I think being intelligent is a curse. lol

I agree, it is a lot harder to face the world's problems if you're not stupid. But being sensible can help ward off the depression.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I dont think that it is a cause and effect relationship but I do think that the old saying 'ignorance is bliss' came from someplace.
Lets face it. The world is designed for average people who in general leave the major life decisions to the more intelligent people. Of course this creates stresses that are unknown to the masses.
Could you imagine when poor ole Copernicus (sp?) was trying to explain to everyone that the sun did not revolve around the earth....what a lonely feeling. That in itself could create an internal purgatory....
Ever been to a mensa meeting....a bunch of super intelligent phuckups....by the other standards that matter in today's society....
why do you think that all of the sucessful politicians tell you the infamous 'son of a sharecropper story'....They never stay, I was top of my class at yale or I am/ was a Rhoades scholar etc....they let that stuff just leak out because they want to appear like REGULAR people. If they don't then in general, they will be hated by the regular voting masses who tend to vote on someone based on the 'if they like the guy or not'...sometimes that means, does he have 'tv hair' or other stupid stuff like that.
Plenty of people that are more qualified on paper to run the nation but they dont have the 'it factor'....
imagine if you were in line for a promotion and the job was given to someone else because they were 'cuter'. How depressed would you be if the job were anything other than an acting job....

what does dumb people know about depression they're too dumb to know anything..

No honestly depression can hit anyone, in any class, at any stage of life. Depression just like alcoholics or gamblers doesn't come from a stereotype, if it did then everyone would be more cautious around them or becoming one of them. I don't know if there is statistics out there or ratios but I'm sure for every depressed Einstein there is a happy go lucky one.

Most people that have a higher intelligence find it hard to connect mentally with most common people. They tend to want to share their knowledge and thoughts with someone of equal IQ.When they cant do this it becomes frustrating. Most people tend to connect with others that have similar interest and intelligence.
Most people would agree that if they had to carry a conversation with someone that had intelligence of a lamp post it would be very difficult to connect with them or to have a clear understanding of each other.

No I don"t ,but being less intelligent does. Like your at a party and everyones having this intellectual conversation and you just feel really bored and out of the know! Maybe they were depressed because they were bored with their own intelligence and needed to go out and be with other people!

Intelligent people are much more self-aware. We know some of our dreams are unrealistic, and that we don't have as much control over things as we'd like to think. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.

not really, I know plenty of people of average intellegence that suffer depression. I personally think that some, no where near all, of high intellegence put them selves on a pedastal and find that they are lonely people because those of us with average intellegence don't find that they are interesting and avoid them.
