It seems that black people, especially women, who are happy with their lives and aren't miserable seem to make others uncomfortable. Why?

Whew, I'm glad to see that no one else has seen this...I'd rather be imagining things. It seems as if people are always saying things like "no way she can be happy, she's black!" or crap like that.

Nope. I'm Black and I enjoy seeing other black people happy and in the good mood. Only people who are insecure, racist, and very ignorant feels uncomfortable when they see blacks or other minorities happy. Personally I called it JEALOUSY & ENVY.

Hey, Just looking at your avatar makes me happy...Hee Hee #^_^#

Happy black people do NOT make me uncomfortable. I prefer happy people to angry/sad people, regardless of race. Now, I know some people (emo idiots) who are made uncomfortable by happy people in general, but not any race specifically. There's no reason black people shouldn't be happy.

No one makes me uncomfortable if they are happy unless they are bragging and being loud but that's more of getting on my nerves than uncomfortable. I'd rather see anyone happy then see them miserable.

why do you ask?
happy people make the world SO much better
they suck up all the negativity in this world, and i cannot believe how brightsided they are.
we should all learn from happy people, and try to be like them.
we all have our angry moments, but most of our lives should be happy, and i really dont understand you question.
regardless of what race people are, if their happy, their making a fantastic difference in this world.

I think I see what you're talking about, however, it has nothing to do with race. Some women are so "happy" and care so little of what others think that they say and do things that make others nervous. That's all.

i'm black and greater effective than happy. especially situations I instruct my conflict on my face. My human beings have been abused, mistreated, jailed, discrimated against, used and so on. We as black women are stereotyped, ignored and each little thing else, so yeah it shows on my face especially situations...

I like happy people.
Its the angry looking ones with L shaped lumps(of any color) under their shirts that make me cautious.

Only insecure people would be uncomfortable with another who is comfortable in their own skin. Envy would be the reason, and I think this phenomenon cuts across racial, economic and social lines.
