Suppose a 1.82 g nugget of pure gold has zero net charge. What would be its net charge after it has 1% of its electrons removed?

Gold's outer valence shell is full - hence a remarkably stable substance. Remove even one electron and it would become an excellent insulator... quite something for an excellent conductor!
