You should probably go with something entertaining; nothing too practical. Her future birthdays will most likely bring lots of useful things, but you should take this opportunity to get her something fun and funky. I don't know your friend personally so I can't give specific gift ideas, but maybe something random like a Mexican hat (unless you don't consider that random. Depending on your circumstances, it might not be) or possibly a movie that brings back memories for the two of you. If you don't want to get an item, think about a trip to a spa or a movie pass that you could do together. That could be tons of fun, and it is a pretty good gift for anyone to give their best friend. I'm not 30 so I don't have any personal advice, but I think that you shouldn't treat it any differently than you would any other birthday. I hope I've helped!

Get her something you know she has been dying to have. you can give her a frame with alot of pictures of special events of her life or a piece of jewlry.
