Yes. The prohibition against marijuana isn't working. California for example pays out 170 million dollars a year trying to eradicate marijuana usage. Despite the law and all of law enforcement's efforts weed is still easily obtained and people continue to get high. There's a bill pending in the California legislature that if approved would legalize marijuana for recreational use. A legal marijuana industry in California is expected to generate 1.2 billion dollars per year in tax revenue. By the way The Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 excluded hemp. Hemp was very important to the war effort, hemp fibers were often made into parachute harnesses. A lot of fly boys owed their lives to them. It was the Nixon administration that placed the federal ban on hemp in 1972 largely out of ignorance. It was thought growers could hide illegal marijuana plants amongst the legal hemp plants. Typical dumb government logic. You don't want marijuana and hemp plants within a mile of each other. If they cross pollinate the marijuana plants will loose vital THC content and the hemp plant's all important stocks will be smaller and less fibrous. Thankfully the federal hemp ban has been overturned. Many states have active and profitable legal hemp industries.

YES!

Particularly for medicinal use--many people with AIDS, cancer, arthritis, PMS, anxiety issues, concentration issues, menopause, aggressive behavior, anorexia, etc. can benefit from marijuana--and it won't damage their livers, like prescription drugs and alcohol can.

Hemp should definitely be legal. There's not even any THC in hemp. It is used for rope, clothing, paper, and is strong. It should have never been illegal. It is healthy is foods and health and beauty products.

Considering a whole lot of us cannot even smoke cigarettes in public any more--why on earth can't we be smoking weed? It is safer than tobacco with its additives, and doesn't tend to get people violent, as some do from alcohol.

The problem the government REALLY has with weed and hemp is that it would lose a lot of tax monies from the pharmaceutical, tobacco and alcohol industries. It became illegal in the first place because of the paper and forestry industries.

Jails and prisons are full of people just for having a little weed. This is ridiculous--then they complain that they need more jails--what crap.

Oh, I forgot to mention that alternative fuel can be made from the plant--I think it is called ethanol--we could really use that, too.

I personally think yes. It has alot less bad things about it than alcohol, or the prescription drugs out there. It's really funny the stuff that is legal and the stuff that is not. I think stuff like Meth And cocaine should be totally done away with because I have seen too many people get hurt by this stuff. Stuff that is man made, like alcohol, meth, coke, acid, and so on should not be. Natural should be a choice.

No I think it's ridiculous that anyone would want to do that any way it ages your body so much. Its a health hazard. And I bet all you people that said yes look about 50 because you probably do it yourselves. And for medicinal purposes alcohol works better on numbing pain, yeah it might be slower but the affects last longer.

I have mixed emotions. It makes me think of a childhood friend who was always moving cause her dad was in the army. She said that in countries where drugs were legal (& there was no age limit on drinking) there were very few problems & crime related to the drugs. And you could forget about outrageous prices. I guess knowing you can do it free & clear takes all the fun out of it.
