The general rule of thumb is 12-24 months. Dust mites can be a problem for people who are allergic or have asthmatic conditions. Sounds like it may be excessive, but if you think about how the pillow is one the most neglected items in the home. And you do spend a third of your life with it! After all you and your family deserve to have a comfortable and clean place to recharge after a long day. If you have children we all know what a good old fashion pillow fight is and what they can do to a good feather pillow! Good luck and sweet dreams!

How come no one's mentioned the drooling marks? I replace mine when the drooling marks can be seen on both sides of the pillow!

so long as they are in covers that are kept clean, and there is no problem with the pillow itself, as long as its comfortable.
but, lets say your 2 month old pukes all over your new pillows, and it seeps down into the stuffing, then you might want to take a trip to target.
