I was wondering if someone could recommend some carrers that might interest me: I don't want to spend any more than 1 year in school. And I mostly prefer working by myself, i'm not a big people person. I'm more of a loner... I've researched a lot and i'm so worried that I will never find anything for me. I often get bored with jobs and end up quiting just a few months into it... Any advice for me?? THANKS!!

I know the birth of a child is the most beautiful thing EVER! I don't feel like my life is "pretty much over" AT ALL.. I feel like it's just beginning..Well, it is just beginning. And i'm so so happy with everything! I tried welding in highschool, and i was terrible at it, otherwise that would be my career choice, its a very good job.

Depends on what you are interested in.. If theres a local community college check out their website they should have several "technical certificates" they only take one year. They have them in every area--- business, early childhood education, welding, construction type stuff, (computer related, data entry or medical transcript you would be a loner basically) anything you could possibly want.
I am 20 also, mommy of 2 little girls. I just got a 2 year degree from a community college. I started with just a have a 1 year technical certificate from the place, then i realized the only things I wanted to do take a bunch of years though, I'm more of a "people person" so I am going into a helping career. If all of the years ever come.. lol
Good luck on the little one!!!!!

I've been thinking so hard but I couldn't come up with a good one for you. Especially you're not a big people person and a loner as you said. To be able to have success you have to adapt a little especially on these two characteristics. Plus you're becoming a mom pretty soon. Make your baby as your inspirations on everything that you do and change a bit and you'll be okay.

I wish you're in my area so I can plug you into pfs. This company doesn't need your money and schooling, they have all the money and brain in the world. They only want you as their agent/helper to help other people. Being not a people person is not a problem because they will train you to be the best out there. Anyway, congratulations and good luck to your baby.

I think you would enjoy one day having your own business so why not think about having a trade like hairdressing, beauty therapy or
something more practical like plumbing or being a driving instructer ;some trades like that are keen to get more women. I hated working in an office environment and much prefered being my own boss. If you spend a year learning a trade you can eventually set up on your own and be much more independent. Or you could think about something that ties in with being a mum and suits those hours like training to be a nursery nurse or classroom assistant. There are lots of jobs which involve working with children aside from teaching which don't involve a long training period. Your local careers advise should be able to help and set up some work experience for you to see if you think you would like it. Just promise yourself you will stick it out for at least a year as most people hate new jobs or experiences in the first few weeks and I find it takes at least six months to really start to fit into a place.

It is great that you are keen to have a career and I really admire your determination and enterprise in asking for help. Good luck and ignore that comment about not having any time for 18 years. Millions of women have rewarding careers and children.

Well there always the internet where can get a Home based job. ALso some technical schools have classes that take from 3 months to a year to get your degree. And it all depends on what you like to do the most in your life. Something like a paralegal, firefighter, secretary, or an even enjoyable outside job liek a UPS driver. SO do the math and go for it.

have you looked into the cost of having a job? (a 2nd car, daycare, work clothes, lunch and gas money) many times it makes more since for one parent to stay home with child until he/she is in school. plus baby don't sleep threw the night for a while. try not to over load your self or you could set your self up for failure. your going to be a mommy that is a 24/7 job for life. you feel different about wanting a job after the baby is born.

you should consider taking welding classes at your local community college. Welding is a pretty isolated practice, the training is relatively short, and the income is above average, especially if you are in an area with steelworkers unions.

What skills do you have and what do you like to do?

There is nothing beautiful then the birth of a child. Enjoy the time together, children grow up fast.

Maybe medical transcription? Or another work from home job.
Good luck on that.....the truth is that most people HATE their job, and only stick it out for the money/benefits.
