It's baby acne. Almost every newborn gets it at some point. It won't scar, and it's not a big deal. My whole family has sensitive skin when it comes to acne, and it's just become par for the course.
If your doctor told you not to use soap on the baby's face, then try that first. Some ingredients in soaps can clog pores, and I would take his or her advice.
Lotions and soft soaps can certainly clog your baby's pores, so stay away from them. If it doesn't clear up after only using water to wash your baby's face, consult your doctor again.

Yes, do not put soap on the baby's face. The skin is far too sensitive, and really, ANY soap on ANYone's face is bad...clogs up pores! Use warm water. The acne should clear up in a few weeks, if not, see the pediatrician.

It is called baby zits and will go away in a few days or weeks. My daughter has it and my Dr. said the same thing. Just wash their face with warm water and it will go away on its own. My daughter had it from about 1 week old until about 1 month old.

My son had the same problem. It's probably just that his skin is extra sensitive at this early age. If there is no fever and he doesn't seem uncomfortable or itchy then you probably have nothing to worry about. Most likely a heat rash but call the doctor if you're nervous. My son's cleared up in a couple of weeks.

It's so hard to see your new sweetie pie with a red face! It will go away on its own. Don't pick or rub it and wash with water only and not every day. Babies don't get dirty except in folds and in the diaper. Too much water will maybe dry the skin.

Its more then likely baby acne. Both my daughter and son had it. Although Johnson's is tear free and hypo allergenic you shouldn't be using it on their faces. Just plain warm water on a soft cloth will do. It clears up on its own do not try to pop them either!

Baby acne is very normal. My little one had it until about 4 months old. Try not to use soap, even baby soap for a while. The acne comes from your little one's skin being so new.

It sounds like baby acne, my daughter got it extremly bad to were people thought she had been burned and it lasted about a month. DO not use ANYTHING on it except water. The skin is too sensitve and will react to the other things verses it helping. It will slowly go away, but i will go away.
