The only difference between San Jose and Anaheim is Chris Pronger. Anaheim is without him and they have lost a bundle of games. Giguere is out too and Bryzgalov is faltering. San Jose has two good goalies in Nabakov and Toskala. San Jose has some excellent forwards and 4 lines as well.
Without Pronger in the rear to move the puck out, Anaheim is vunerable to forechecking which every team has done against them successfully since Pronger broke his foot. When Pronger returns Anaheim will be awesome again and likely cup contenders.

Ducks have the better balanced team. The Sharks are good at the top, but the talent at the bottom of their roster is pretty thin. Some say the Ducks are the only team that can roll 4 lines with the Sabres.

Also, both Ducks goalies proved themselves well in last years playoffs.

I've got to say that the San Jose Sharks have less of a complete roster, but they have one man the Ducks do not. I'm talking about Joe Thornton. By far the most complete player in the NHL, the reigning MVP is putting together another fantastic season leading the league in assists with 47. Making any team with him on it a contender in my book.

Currently, the Ducks are plagued with injuries although they are in no danger of missing the playoffs by any means. Once they get one of their solid goaltenders back, they will be a force to be reckoned with. But, you have to remember that San Jose has a tandem that equals the talent of the Ducks. Vesa Toskala and Evgeni Nabokov are, in my opinion, the best one-two punch in the NHL.

In short, with Joe Thornton and the tandem of Toskala and Nabokov, I can't pick against them. Even if that means picking against the Ducks.

I use to think it was the Ducks but they falter when they have a few injuries. The Sharks seem stronger. If one of their key players go down someone else seems to step up which makes for a better team.

ducks. balanced scoring, great depth, excellent goalies, both of whom can be a #1.

Just wind me up - Burke isn't all that great as a manager. having lived thru his vancouver days, i can tell you he's a smart guy, a great person, but he hasn't shown he can take a team to the next level. he inherited an awesome team. his only moves were to trade fedorov for marchant & some good prospects & 1st rounders for pronger. those aren't exactly moves of genius. any Gm would want pronger and fedorov for marchant isn't pretty much a push. Wait til draft days, you'll see what his decisions are about. In vancouver, he's stock-piled the farm team with 3rd line bangers. there's no natural scorer on our farm, and no good prospects on D (besides Bourdon, but that's after Burke's time).
