When I was younger (in grade school and middle school) I use to be so motivated to work hard. I would do my homework as soon as I got home and would study for every test and quiz. I got straight a's. Now, I'm in high school and in the highest levels except for math. Honors geometry is the hardest and I'm in geometry. I cannot focus or concentrate on my schoolwork. I cant pay attention in class because I'm so distracted by other things such a boy problems all the time. I've started copying homework from friends and I never study anymore for tests. But grades are still important to me. i want to do well and get into a good college, and have a good future. But I just cant seem to work hard. I am getting a c in math this marking period and 1 or 2 b's and all the rest are a's. Last week I had midterms and i didnt study for any of them and I feel that I did poorly on all of them . Even on the english one which happens to be my best subject. Last year, I even recieved a trophy for doing well.

I always procrastinate and I feel lazy all the time. Please give me tips to stay motivated. Now, I spend all my time on im or myspace. I hate what I've become. I went from overachiever to slacker. I would like to get into Duke or Dartmouth. I want to get straight a's this marking period. My parents are going to kill me when I get my report card. They expect me to get straight a's but they never help me with my schoolwork or help me study.

Re-evaluate your life and prioritize your schedule. You need to focus on what you need to do. If you want to go to college, you need to work on your grades. Have yourself do homework right after you get home from school and study. Get all that you can done over the weekend. What is more important: your education and sucsess or slacking off?

Delete your myspace. Seriously, it will be hard but it will help you loads. Don't even touch the computer until your homework is done.

Get a tutor and meet regularly to review the past chapters or sections, get caught up quickly, and stay on track. If you are distracted in school because of social development factors (which is a common reason girls eventually lose their headstart in math and science over boys) it is very important to study on your own after school where you can focus.

This is very common, and I have tutored students who just could not get geometry in class, so we did all the teaching outside class to get grades back up. Get a good tutor you like who can explain geometry where you can do and review your homework and get your questions answered on a regular basis, and work your tests independent of whatever else is going on in school.

It is VERY important to catch up on the concepts you missed, since geometry and math build on the previous chapters. Can you take all your past homework and tests to a tutor and work out a plan with the teacher to catch up in time for your final grades? The sooner you do, the easier it is to catch up, so please get help now. If you show you are willing to work this out, your parents should not be as mad but should be happy you are ready to take steps to catch up as soon as possible!

If you need help, please email me back anytime.

yeah, my gf's sisters boy is a lazy slacker at school, and always getting into trouble and talked about dropping out. A couple months cleaning bedpans and spongebathing old people at the retirement home and shoveling out pig manure changed his attitude, now he realizes that even a highschool diploma would be a help getting a decent job and getting into college

Think about the alternative in adulthood life -
a crappy job working for little pay, being broke all the time, the struggle to pay the bills, never any money,
if that dont motivate you then i dont know what will

if you need motivation, volunteer at a homeless shelter. helping others who are less fortunate than yourself, may motivate you enough to avoid their misfortunes.
