I would take the pieces out of a board game, with one or two dice, and 2-5 tokens. Then make your own cards and draw your own board with squares going across a river. For each square you either move forward, trying to get to the finish line or "freedom" where Jim is no longer in slave territory, or you can draw a card which tells you to move forward or backward so many squares, with a reason related to the story. (Such as move back X squares: Huck or Jim forgets ____ and has to go back home to get it, or move forward X squares because ____ .)

You can also have a bridge across the river so if you land on that square you get to take a shortcut across. I would make 10-20 cards using details from the story, and have a place on the board where these are stacked. You could try to draw rafts or houses along the river that relate to the setting. If you want to make the tokens look like rafts, you can try using toothpicks and glue to cardboard squares. You may look online for graphics, or draw your own from copies of book illustrations. I think games like "Chutes and Ladders" or "Candyland" may have a simple enough framework to model your game after. It does not have to be as complicated as "Monopoly" though I would borrow the "card" concept from that game. Just keep it simple.

You should do an amusement park. It would be very cool to model the rides on The Adventures of Huck Finn. You could have a river raft ride which takes you through the different story lines of Huck Finn as you go down the rapids of the river. You could also model your concession stands after food of the period and serve food that is coooked over a campfire. You could have all of the people that work there dress like Huck Funn with tattered pants, straw hats, etc

Good Luck

you could make a board game and have the game pieces be little rafts. The game could be like a flowing river and at different parts of the river there could be docks with something from the story. i hope this helps.
