1. The United States Constitution, when enacted in 1789, was considered by the world as the "Great Experiment." The document was modeled under the "Magna Carta" and the Massachusetts Constitution. It contributed to the mystique of The United States as the greatest country in the world because it is still the first country to write a document that commences with the covenant and purpose of what this document does (the preamble); The function of the 2 houses of Congress (Article I); The powers of the Executive (Article II); The authority of the Judiciary (Article III); The privilege and autonomy of each individual State (Article IV).
2. The relationship between the Declaration of Independence and The U.S. Constitution is primarily found in the first ten amendments of the Consitution. These amendments, also known as the Bill of Rights, were recommended by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, George Mason and Thomas Jefferson in the Federalist Papers.
3. The answer to #2 will also answer #3.

The Constitution is the basic framework for our Republic. It is a blueprint for the operation of our government. More importantly, it is a restraint on government. The Founders realized that the essence of freedom is the limitation of government. The powers of the federal government are limited to those powers specified in the Constitution. Article 1, Section 8 lists the specific powers of Congress. You will notice that education is not listed, nor is energy. If you look at the Bill of Rights, which are the first ten amendments to the Constitution, the Tenth Amendment says that all powers not specifically authorized in the Constitution are reserved to the states or the people. That means that Congress, and therefore, the federal government have no business in education or education. These two agencies, created by Congress, are in violation of the Constitution. They usurp power from state and local government. By the same token, you may recall a few years ago, Congress created the 55mph speed limit. Where did Congress get the authority to tell the states what the maximium speed limit was? They usurped it from the states, in violation of the Tenth Amendment.
Much of the anti-terrorism legislation, including the PATRIOT Act are infringements on the rights of the American people, specifically, the Fourth Amendment: freedom from unreasonable search, and the Fifth Amendment: right to trial by jury, freedom from cruel and unusual punishments. The Second Amendment (right to keep and bear arms) has been under attack for decades.
The wars in Korea, Viet Nam and Iraq are in violation of the Constitution. Only Congress can declare war. Has Congress declared war? Not since December of 1941 (after Pearl Harbor).
The Declaration of Independence, besides giving notice to Great Britain that we were now independent, explaines the philosophy of our nation. The phrase "...all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights..." is probably the key phrase of the document. It says that we get our Rights from God, and no legitimate government can take them away. Can this fundamental truth be taught today in the classroom? According to the Supreme Court, recognition of God is a violation of the First Amendment. This is obviously an incorrect ruling. The First Amendment prohibits establishing a state church, and it prohibits government from prohibiting the free exercise of religion - just the opposit.
Unfortunately, the Constitution has been ignored, to the detriment of the American people. We have allowed politicians to twist and pervert its meaning. The Constitution is the protection of our God given rights from politicians who are only interested in gaining more power for themselves. The American people need to wake up. Read the Constitution for yourself.
