It doesn't bother me. Every president has friends and family around them who may or may not influence them.
Do you worry that Laura Bush is influencing her husband too much? Were you worried that GW would become a puppet for GH Bush? Do you look back on John Adams and John Quincy Adams and think that the family connection was a problem?
Or did it bother you when Senator Bob Dole's wife, Elizabeth, was a member of the Cabinet? Or that Senator Phil Gramm's wife, Wendy Lee, held appointments in the Reagan Administration? Or that GW's brother is the governor of the state that won him the presidency?
Aside from all that, the New Yorker had a big article a few months ago about what Bill Clinton is doing these days, and it is clear that he and his wife are largely living separate political lives. And look at how she has done in the Senate: speaking her own mind and pursueing her own agenda.
I think it is more likely that Bill will be a sort of Ambassador-At-Large for the US - and that could be a good thing for America's image abroad.
The New Yorker article described a scene during the World Cup soccer matches last summer when Bill Clinton unexpectedly took the stage at a rally at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and was greeted by a roar and a standing ovation from several hundred thousand soccer fans. Can you imagine the reception GW Bush would have received if he spontaneously showed up like that? Love him or hate him, but Bill Clinton is well liked and respected abroad, and with America's image in tatters these days he could do a lot of good there as First Gentleman in the future.
Lastly, Hillary Clinton would certainly hope to get elected a second time. For that pragmatic reason, I am sure that both Clintons will want to keep him at arms length from the White House and halls of Congress to avoid giving their enemies and haters ammunition for the 2012 election.

I think that if she does win the election Bill will be a small driving force in the background but is that all that bad? When Clinton was president we didn't go into unneccessary war. Gas prices were down and the economy was good.

in my opinion it is going to easily be 4 extra years of Hillary on the grounds that she become the only which ran the country contained in the first position. no one really thinks Billy had a lot impact besides.

Well, unless Hillary doesn't let him in the White House to live with her. Couldn't blame her for that.

Of course he will --- home is home! But he will be forbidden to use the Oval Office after hours since he has too much experience there.

Yes, he would be living in the white house. I guess he would be the first man. I agree, it would be strange.
