I just checked on such a rebuild. An independent shop wanted $1750, the Honda dealer wanted $4150. Find another LX with a bad engine and put yours in it.

Transmission rebuilds usually cost $1200-1800..
The NADA on that car is only around $2K, so you probably shouldn't put too much into it.... You would never get your money back if something happened to it

If this is to REBUILD your transmission and not a replacement/new one. It should cost about $200 plus parts. Parts could be anywhere from $600 to $1000....maybe more if your mechanic doesn't have a good relationship with his parts supplier.

Sure replace the transmission because a dashboard light tells you, you are in D4 when you're not. Does that sound reasonable to you?

More than the car is worth. Junk it, and get a new one.
