Ok well this morning I went to eat at McDonalds but that is not the point... My mom point in the direction to the tree and said "Oh my Gawd I tink it is dead" Me having no clue what she is talking about I looked up to see a kitten in the snow freezing to death almost dead!! (note: It just snowed like 4 or 5 feet here and when we were in town it was like about 6 degrees) But any way she screamed at me to get it so I got out of my csar and picked it up...It eyes were goopie and it's legs were frozen to its stomach...Ice was al over it I was very pissed off that i started crying...We decided to wrap it up in are fur coat...We were going to bring it to the humane society but de cided not too... We had to keep it...His names Mac..At first it was Big Mac but decided Mac instead...He keeps sneezing and his eyes are swollen we call to see if it was feluke but they said it didn't sound like it...they said it sounded like a cold..So what do you think about abandonment of animals and cruelty????

I want to do something about this cruelty as soon as I can...I'm going to start my career soon... And that would be a police officer but I would like to help with cruelty too... Ya know? I also want to bring the subject of pit bull fighting and cock fighting the biggest cruelty of it all I think... But maybe it's not the biggest thing ever who knows do you? But have you people ever watched Animal Precinct or however you spell it on Animal Planet? Well that show shows all the cruelty I think... Sorry I'm fascinated about all theses people agreeing with me... Thank lady for your e-mail I will e-mail anyone who leaves it on here to talk about this too! I might start a Yahoo Group for this I think anyone think thats a great idea.... right??

I worked in a pet store and part of the reason I quit was because I couldn't stand how people treated animals. Sure they would be all up our a** about some hamster having enough water (which we checked HOURLY), but meanwhile they would be towing their dog down the aisle by his too tight leash and not paying the slightest bit of attention to it while it s**t on the floor.

I can't tell you the number of people who bought critically ill animals into the store for me to sell them something off the shelf, instead of doing the right thing and making a vet appointment. Would I send a person to the grocery store for if they had a broken leg? Animals deserve the same respect.

I can't even count the number of people who would bring in a dog, throw it in MY arms, and say "I don't know anything about this dog I bought. Tell me everything I need to know now!" Hasn't anyone heard of research!?

Sorry for the rant, but animal abuse & plain old ignorance makes my blood boil! All of my pets are rescues and I would take any animal to the vet if necessary.

I think abandonment of animals is being unfair to the animals!!! I mean, its not like they can do anything if their owner dumps them off into the cold!!! Im freakin sick of ppl abusing the animals!! Animals are poor defenseless creatures who cant do anything to stay warm when its freezing and snowing!! I think starting a yahoo group about this and trying to stop it is a good thing 2 do!!! I also hope that there will be more ppl like u and ur mom out there to save the animals!!! I also hope that Mac lives a long, healthy life!!!

I think doing this to animals is totally disgusting, that is how I have ended up with 2 dogs and three cats!! Some people have no hearts. My husband and i saw a guy throw a baby kitten into the bush and drive away!!! I should have got his plate # but i was too stunned by what I saw. That is how I got my last addition to the family, thank god there are people like you and I out there!
Hopefully after some TLC little Mac will be okay.

Thing about all of this is that there are just as many abused people/children as there are animals. . .People today are just selfish and don't care about anyone but themselves and don't want to do anything that puts them out.
Someone suggested that perhaps this kitten had just gotten lost or out of someone's house. . . kittens with sick weepy eyes are abandoned kittens that someone has neglected.
When I watch Animal Precinct it really burns my behind that those that mistreat animals don't get punished any worse than they do.
I wish you luck in your endeavor but just know that you are fighting a really really large battle and that there are plenty of people out there that really think they can explain the whole situation away with idle justifcations as you will probably see and hear before it's all over.

What a sad story. Good for you to try to help. I hope Mac lives! In Texas we have made animal cruelty a felony and not just a misdemeanor fine. We just had a story of a guy who put a dog in a washing machine on HOT water and the dog died. The guy was caught and tried. He is now in Jail on a felony cruelty charge. I hot the "fellas" in prison give him the high hard one every day!

This is the reason I pick up animals off the road. Because some idiot didn't wanna deal with it, and I can give it a better home. Animal cruelty and abandonment disgust me. I don't understand how people can be this way.

When I used to go hiking more, my husband and I used to find animals abandoned in the mountains. One was a springer spaniel shot by its owner, killed. One was a Siamese kitten left with a pillow to freeze. There were some we could bring to the shelter. I have as many animals as I can keep, so I do try to find good, permanent homes for the others.

I think that is sick-- people can be horribly cruel!
You did the right thing rescuing the little guy. I wish more people were like you. I have 5 pets currently & they are all rescues except one (I just saw this little kitten at a pet store, fell in love...), but I have encouraged everyone I know to only adopt from the local shelter.
Just tell everyone you can about what you experienced, send a letter to the editor of your local paper.... the more people who know about this kind of stuff, the better.

that is terrible that people have the nerve to leave a kitten in the cold to die.

i think that these people should serve a week in animal shelters and look at what people have done to these poor animals.

i do communtity service alot to help these animals find a good home. people need to be aware of this. p.e.t.a. is a good group of people. i dont care what people say about them. at tleast people are trying to stop the injust treatment of animals.

i am glad that you kept this animal. take it to a good vet and have it vaccinated and the ve will give you medication for its eyes and other problems that it may have. it may be costly but it is worth it. you will grow to love this kitten even more because you saved it. and that is a bold thing to do.

even more so thankyou for saving its life.

some people are so irresponsible when it comes to animals. they think they're cute and cuddly when they are puppies or kittens, and then the animal grows up and they don't want the responsibility. people need to realize there's a lot of time and work involved in raising a pet. animal cruelty and abandonment really annoy me; unfortunately, I don't know what the answer is.
