That's what those things were made for. You, and everyone other parent, will be recording every sound and movement. That's normal. Now if they were professionals,charging admission and selling a recording themselves then probably nope. You can film almost, if not all, high school events-football,basketball, baseball games, band events, hockey,etc.....
Maybe, you'll get one of those Americans Funniest Home Video moments.
