Well, group A has Santana and a bunch of question marks. Liriano won't play this year and who knows how effective he will be when he returns. Zito isn't dominant. Willis is overrated and like Zito, lacks great K and BB numbers. Johnson is clearly getting old.
Group B has Clemens, old but good. Matsuzaka who looks like he'll be very good.Wang lacks strikeouts almost completely and will see some reversion. Schilling old but good. Webb is a great pitcher.
It is somewhat difficult to answer because I don't know what you mean. Would I rather have them pitch for me if I was a GM or would I rather have them on a fantasy team.
This is important because ballpark, defense, offense and league all play huge parts in a pitcher's projection. Matsuzaka's ERA should be close to 4 in Boston, but it would be close to 3 in San Diego.
Also, do I want them in 2007 or for the rest of their major league careers? Another huge distinction there. Liriano would be worthless in 2007.
In any event, it would be hard not to pick group B. It has two youngsters who should be good now and for a while.

I would go with group B. Johnson is 43 and may be out of gas and Liriano had surgery and likely will lose this whole season. Santana and Willis are elite pitchers and Zito is very good but from the "B" list you have Clemens who even in a half season at his age proved to still be dominant, Webb may be the most underrated pitcher in the game right now and is a dominant starter, Schilling is starting to show his age but still is effective and occasionally dominating, Wang had an incredible first year and plays for the Yankees so he has a chance to win even when he isnt effective (which wasnt often, he was very good most of the time). Matsuzaka is the wildcard, if he pitchs like he did in Japan and lives up to the hype then the "B" group is even more impressive but he may also end up being more like other Japanese pitchers who dominated in Japan but struggled here. Top to bottom "B" has a slight edge in my mind.

Group A
Although Clemens and Shilling bring experience and knowledge to the rotation, Group A just has a great edge on talent. Randy Johnson is not the best of pitchers, but has been around a long time, and can have very succesful games. Zito is very good, as well as a talented Willis, and Liriano. Johan Santana was just amazing in '06.
I guess a big factor would be the team they're facing, and the team they have supporting them. (Clemens pitched great for the 'Stros, but had no run support.)

I'll score them from 1-10 based on best to worst:
Johan Santana 10
Francisco Liriano 7
Barry Zito 5
Dontrelle Willis 2
Randy Johnson 1
Roger Clemens 9
Daisuke Matsuzaka 8
Chien-Ming Wang 3
Curt Schilling 4
Brandon Webb 6
Group A has 25
Group B has 30
Group B wins

I'd have to go with group A. Some major league scouts and analysts think Liriano could be even better than Santana in the long run. Just because of this duo i would take the group but when Zito(maybe the best curveball in baseball) and Willis(amazing stuff) are added it makes it even better. Even though Johnson is old, he is still a better pitcher than a lot of others in the league. So in sum, i would go with group A because of talent and youth even though Johnson is there.

well lets see, group A has 4 lefties and one righty and group B has righties so i would mix it up with santana liriano web willis and zito so now u hav a ratio of 3 to 2 so it almost evens it out and it keeps the hitters guessing so switch hitters not good hav at bats left and some not right so it keeps hitters off balance and johnson or clemens getting old need some young fresh arms in there.

Group A
consider- Santana. Liriano, Zito, and Willis have alot of proven stuff. Johnson- he's getting old but
in your next group-
Clemens, and Schilling- age is creeping up
Wang and Web- they're both good
Matsuzaka- well, he's never pitched an inning in the Majors.
too many ????? marks in group B

If both groups were 100% healthy, for the entire season ... AND they remained on the teams they are currently on as of today ...
Santana, Liriano, Zito, Willis and Johnson would supremely KICK BUTT!!
GROUP "A": Left
