I can't say I am as geeked as I am worried. Unless the mighty Mariners achieve a pitching miracle - or they score at least 18 runs every game - Ichiro is gone at the end of the season, and with him most of the excitement in Seattle. Look for another 28 pennant-less years after that happens.
As for the rest of MLB, of course the Tigers will be in the thick of it again, as their success last year was no fluke, and Jim Leyland can steady things if they get squirrelly. Look for the Twins to give them a good fight all the way. As usual the Steinbrenners and Red Sox will be going head to head. I suspect the other teams, in those divisions, less Kansas City and Tampa Bay, will not sit idly by, however.
I see a big fight in the NL West again. The foul Dodgers have improved their pitching staff, and the Giants' acquisition of Barry Zito may not be enough to offset this. Barry Bonds will have a lot to prove, and whatever one thinks of him, he is up to the challenge. The Padres are not to be counted out.
An even bigger fight looms in the NL Central. The Cardinals did not have that hot a record, though if Pujols stays healthy they will improve on it. The usual cast of challengers, i.e. Cincinnati and Houston, will give the Cards a run, joined this year by the Cubs.
In the NL East, the Mets remain the team to beat, but the Phillies will give it their best shot. The Phils are much improved and have Ryan Howard besides. I don't see an Atlanta resurgence.
At this stage I will only make two predictions, one serious and one off the wall.
First, Daisuke will prove to be an excellent pitcher in the majors, even though he does not throw a gyroball.
Second, the NYPD will arrest a man for breaking and entering at Yankee Stadium. He will be charged with attempting to break into the Yankee locker room and spike Alex Rodriguez's water bottle with steroids.
Enjoy the season!

Well... i cant wait!
I haven't seen much of my Twins doing anything so far ever since there season ended, so when comes spring training, i will be very picky on what there doing.
I'm not sure if I'm getting geeked, but nervous seems like the right word.
I also can't stand the "Who's going to win the world series" question, so now baseball is so close, let the games begin!
I would hope nothing more than it to be a close one between Twins and Tigers in the division again.
Then Indians, then Royals... and you know who's last!

Can't wait, looking forward to seeing the Tigers come into town April 6th. We got the Red Sox then you guys, what a way to open the season huh!? Hopefully you guys aren't in payback mode for the last 3 games of the regular season last year. No, but seriously, I hope it's a fun competitive AL Central.

Went to TigerFest today...does that help answer your question? Only a die-hard Tiger Fan would wait in line for an hour and a half to get an autograph in 17 degree weather...and meeting Monroe with the ALCS Trophy was sweet...really got me pumped up to watch them this season and try to bring back the World Series Trophy this time...Go Tigers!

I am getting very excited! I haven't been as excited as I am now. I've been living in Japan for the last 4 years and I am returning home to Dallas in March. This year will be my first time in years to go to a MLB game in person. Yeah, I am excited.

It's a little early to get juiced about baseball here ... football is still on and hockey season is in full swing! GO SILVERTIPS!! :-)
How excited I get about baseball when the season DOES roll around depends on whether the owner grows a brain and brings in some stronger bats and more consistent pitching! I'm in the Seattle area - condolences on behalf of the Mariners' subpar performance over the last few seasons cheerfully accepted. :-)

You bet I am. Of course, you already know that I am. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that I will have so much to argue and agree with you and other intelligent individuals on Yahoo answers. It does add an additional dimension to the game.
