To stay a top flight footballer you must play top flight teams and players. This won't happen playing in the MLS.

Thanks Miz B, the second link is opening up for me, I hope it works for everyone else. Ronaldinho's brother has confirmed the MLS are after him and says it's something they will look at among other offers even though he is happy at Barca.

I heard about this.. I LOVE YA for posting it.. heard it on the telly. As I live in Austin, Texas (home of the horrible George W Bush) I drove to Houston, Texas in August to see Barca play Club America. Ronaldinho got a standing ovation when his name was announced. No one else got such an applause. He said he wouldnt rule out an MLS stunt. However, I dont see this happening until after the 2014 WC. If he would come now, that would probably stimulate alot of other top players to come to US(the Henry's, the Chelsea/Man U squad, etc).. But this would involve putting in billions of dollars into a sport thats not terribly highly watched by Americans here.. It is watched heavily by immigrants but there is a sense of "We are Americans and we rule the world" mentality in the US. Even when they lose in sports they invented(basketball), they say we didnt try at all.
Andygurl: This is JUST a rumor though... as for affecting his worldwide appeal(most likely). However with football becoming the highest bidder what happens if US uses its economic power to buy all the best players and the US league becomes the best in the world? Then again, the chances of this happening are about as high as marrying a movie star.

Every club in the world wants Ronaldinho but does he want to leave Barca, for now I really doubt but in the near future he will left Barca 100%, there are too many doors open for him, at the moment Barca is the best club in the world because of him, in three years with Barca he won all the awards that player can get in club level!!! He became bigger than Barca, when other clubs have problems, coach is first to blame but when Barca has problems, Ronaldinho is first to blame..... I think that is impossible to predict when will he leave and where will he go, Beckham went to MSL because not one top European club didn't want to buy him and because only in MSL he can be among the best again, Ronaldinho doesn't have those problems!!!!!

Your link is not working so I cannot read about this and give you an informed reply.

But if what you say is true then it is indeed madness. I had not even heard of MLS until Beckham signed for LA Galaxy although you have to admit, Beckham's career as a top flight footballer is almost over.
As for Ronaldinho, why he would want to leave Barcelona, I do not know unless it's for the money. Why leave a top European club for a completely unknown one?

This is rubbish.

Ronaldinho is one of the best players in the world, playing in one of the best leagues in the world, at one of the best teams in the world. I don't care how much money is involved, he is in the prime of his career and wouldn't be stupid enough to go to the MLS. Such a move would affect his legacy, affect his worldwide appeal and put his place on the Brazilian national team in danger.

The MLS is such a step down from La Liga, and such a move would be terrible, and the league would not be able to afford him and Beckham; plus Ronaldinho would simply be stupid to go there.

I hope it doesn't happen, for the sake of football.

Mmm, less taxes versus free universal healthcare, I know which one I'd choose. I guess it's a bit different for a multimillionaire though. Might be something to do with the million dollars a week...
Beckham's over the hill, Ronaldinho will not go to the MLS

I doubt that Ronaldinho would wanna go to America at this time. Maybe in 10 years but I still doubt it will ever happen.

I'm sure the only reason they are coming to the United States is the same reason other famous British people come here to live, they are not taxed so high as in Britain. I'm willing to bet its all about the money and little do with the opportunity.
