We met some people on our cruise who work for the city of New Orleans and can't wait to GET OUT! They told us many horror stories of the corruption of Ray Nagin and his do-nothing approach to running the city. Can you guess the percentage of people NOT working in New Orleans BEFORE the storm hit? 70% AND...of that 70% not working - 50% had NEVER WORKED A DAY IN THEIR LIFE! NEVER WORKED. That is how Nagin and the Democrats keep getting voted in. Entitlements. I have a black friend Carol (who lived in New Orleans and now lives here in WI) who said a LOT of the people down there just EXPECT the Government to take care of them forever and not make them ever do anything.
What are your thoughts on 50% of a city NEVER working a day in their life?

Carol - my black friend - admits it is all the blacks who do not want to work and are on welfare forever. SHE is a very hard worker and could not stay there.

perseus - Marie Antoinette was misunderstood. We were in France not too long ago and saw her palace and did research on her. She was young and lonely and did not mean to be offensive to her people. She was keep in a guilded cage and built a Hamlet on the grounds to escape the Palace excesses herself!

... my advice to you is... don't be so gullible... no wonder you're a Republican...
that sounds highly unlikely, ESPECIALLY SINCE CLINTON AND THE REPUBLICAN CONGRESS SET A FEDERAL LIMIT ON THE AMOUNT OF TIME YOU CAN BE ON WELFARE AT 5 YEARS....
so I think that ANYONE who reads this would like to see some citation...
doesn't it at least sound a little fishy to you? is your bs detector broken?
just to change the subject for a second...
I have a GREAT deal on some ocean front property in Arizona that I just have to move soon. I'm desperate and I'm willing to basically give it away... I'll contact you with the details later...

What a marvellous idea for census of the poor and citizens on welfare.Gather your data on a cruise liner. Now how many passengers were on welfare.Oh by the way I'll bet 100% were'nt.Nor will 100% ever have this luxury.Plus 100% live in poverty all the time. You remind me of a certain queen when told the poor had no bread she said "Well let them eat cake"

A friend told me that our Republican President is a moron and sent us into a war to avenge his daddy. What are your thought on that? I agree that the welfare system needs to be cleaned up, but I work with people who are developmentally disabled and need those supports to survive. Do some people take advantage of welfare? Sure, and they need to be kicked off the rolls so it can be used for the people who really need it. However, I fail to see what that has to do with Democrats. Welfare has been around for decades. Telling people that Democrats are responsible for welfare is just plain stupid. How about this? Dems will take responsibility for welfare when Bush takes responsibility for the tragedy in Iraq.

I think the better question might be why was it a democrat president that tried to change the system not a republican? Or how about why with a republican congress and president does welfare still exist? The system needs to end or change drastically.

The basis American conservative (Republican) and liberal (Democrat) philosophy runs something like this:
Conservatives believe that the answer to most of our problems can be fixed through the free enterprise system. What's good for capitalism is good for the country.
Liberals believe that the answer to most of our problems can be fixed through correcting the disparity between classes. If we believe that all men are created equal, then there is no justice without equality.

The same reason that neo-cons want welfare for corporations for life I would imagine.
In 2005, the Republican congress give oil companies $15,000,000,000 tax breaks while they made record profits.
Out of curiosity, what do you having a "black friend" have to do with welfare? Does that sound a little "telling" to anyone else here?
