Why?

My favorite is Lullaby. Survivor was my favorite, and is still up there, but when I went through and read his books over again I found Lullaby to be the most balanced between sadness and humor. There are some really heartbreaking chapters in it, as well as some pointed, biting commentary.

Like many a young reader I regrettably and sadly never read a book until after I saw Fight Club in the movies. Ive read Choke and Lullaby. Choke in my opinion, is a 1st person account of his world, Lullaby is more of a four opinion account of the/his world.

Both served different purposes but the end result is that choke was more honestly brutal. The main character was out all alone for our judgment while as in Lullaby he had the balance of good evil, evil/evil, children parents, etc... more balance. What I'm getting at is that lullaby is a great story that balances itself...you chose the hero, where choke you have to live with one medical school drop out with sexual issues, no turning your back from that, no getting away. In Lullaby you could hide in a character the tree huger, idiot witch, penisles man, money hungry woman (obviously they were more than that but thats what I thought of first) in Choke it was you in the restaurant, looking for attention/victims/heros.

I lll read more of his work but at this point i stand here. Join the cult.
