Do I need a light for a fresh water aquarium or will my fish be ok?

What a bunch of B.S.!, fish don't need an aquarium light,the light in the room should be sufficient. A heater,yes,a filter ,yes, a light is for the aquarist, not the fish. Notice the people that said yes mostly have something to sell. Coincidence? ------ PeeTee

your fish should be okay it also kind of depends on the type of fish, ask some one at the pet store where you bought it or just generally someone at the pet store. or even ask a veternarian. those are the only people that can give you a for sure and exaclty correct answer. and you never know if someone is lying about being a veternarian or pet shop owner or something like that if they say it on the internet. so just ask people that you know you can trust and you know will be able to give you the correct answer.

depends where you live and where the tank is. If you are in an area with windows near the equator you'll be find. If you are in a cave in Alaska get the poor fishies some lights.

Yes you need a light as well as a heater and filter for all freshwater fish.
