no it won't. Your bottleneck is your connection. Make sure you are not accessing the Internet with the other computers or make it so the router will prioritize the xbox connection over the others.

Unless you are going to grab a more expensive/faster/better connection then the 802.11g will do nothing for you. Well, unless you do network sharing.

Maybe, maybe not. The 802.11b standard caps out at 11 Mbps. The max throughput you'll likely see is about 4 Mbps. And that's only if your computer is fairly close to the wireless router or access point. If you're a fair distance away, the throughput could be as low as 1 Mbps or even less. If your DSL connection is faster than that you will get better throughput by upgrading to 802.11g. If you upgrade to a faster broadband connection you'll definitely get better performance with 802.11g.

First off, the XBox downloads take lots of time, period. I've seen on my buddy's XBox where they seem to take forever - your connection speed has nothing to do with it - how fast the XBox network is running is what matters. Try downloading at "off times" and see if it speeds up at all.

For the upgrading part - if you upgrade to a "g", you'll need to upgrade your wireless cards to "g" as well to see an increase. I believe the "g" goes up to 54mbps, instead of 11 for the "b", so yes, you may see an increase. It depends on how many computers are connected to the router at once and how much of your bandwidth they are using. The XBox uses lots of the bandwidth, both to your router and on the broadband connection. My suggestion is to use either the XBox or surf, not both at once. Of course, if you broadband connection isn't that fast, upgrading to a "g" won't help, since your "b" already does 11mbps.

no it would not make any difference.the only way you could increase your bandwidth is call your ISP & upgrade to a higher speed.
