I have wondered about your question for years. Every time I have tried to repair one, it is never precisely balanced. I have found it is simply easier, and less time consuming, to go replace the damamged slinky with a new one. They are fairly inexpensive as it is.

Hah! I tried to fix my old slinkys for about 4 years of my childhood.

your best bet its to use a curved head hammer and roll it back into form.
