Well.. it wasn't too scare me into good behavior... but once when I was around 5, I swallowed a watermelon seed and asked my mom if I was going to be okay. She said "Well... your going to grow a watermelon in your stomach now." I cried and cried and laid on the couch, holding my stomach for the rest of the day.

My mom was pretty good about scaring kids for the rest of their lives. I was constantly told that if I was to walk down the road by myself to where she could no longer look out the window and see me, some man was going to kidnap me... yeah, it kept me from getting kidnapped, but even to this day I don't go anywhere alone.

Nothing, ever.
They just scared the living hell out ofme, period.
But after I figured out that there was no Santa at 3 1/2 because it took two hours just to trick-or-treat in my neighborhood, they didn't think they could get away with it anyway.
Which is why I still eat too many cookies, etc. LOL

THAT IS A GOOD ONE!!! I grew up in Iowa. They have great thunder storms. Well, my mom said every time I lied a black star shot to heaven. One night during a storm i looked at the sky and ran crying to her about my lies. I saw how black the sky was. I said I would not lie again. I think that scared me!!! ha

My parents would read in Leviticus about how people were supposed to take their rebellious children outside the city walls and stone them.

Not sure this qualifies as lying.

My parents had this look if I did something wrong all they had to do is shoot me this look and then I knew if I didn't straightened I'd get killed. My dad told me once that he'd kill me and no one would ever find the body.

We were kept in check by the threat of the ever-popular "Boogeyman." I still, to this day, wonder if there really is one. LOL!

my mom said that if I lied then the back of my tongue would turn black. So whenever she thought I was lying she'd ask to see the back of my tongue. If I was lying then i would close my mouth tight.
