I get internet connections via unsecured wireless networks. Will this LAN booster increase my ability to get connections or do i need my own router?
This is the USB Drive i'm talking about:

So, your asking a question about how to steal people's internet more efficiently?

no, that drive wont, look up wireless thumb drives that have a longer range. the smc 2536 has a range of 1500ft. thats 500 meters. should get you a block of a neighborhood.

That is not a storage drive, this is a USB adapter to connect to wireless Internet connections.

Just so you know, what you are doing, getting Internet via unsecured wireless networks is illegal in the United States, and if you are caught, you can be arrested (possibly as a terrorist), and you can be tried and fined.

I would recommend buying your own router, and paying for your own Internet. If you cannot afford Internet, determine if you need the Internet more, or TV more. Most tv shows are able to be viewed on-line these days for free from the network websites.

While I wouldn't recommend hopping into an unsecured network (if you can get in without a password, anyone can get in... which means anyone can check out all your stuff) that piece of equipment will get you into the next-door neighbor's network without too much fuss.

I would suggest that if you're picking up any unsecured networks, that you let the owners of that network know about security risks associated with it. (Which, incidentally is how I managed to get permission to hook into my neighbor's wireless with my Wii)

The honest route works a lot better than hacking, and it could save you court time, since (as stated before) hoping on an unsecured network is illegal.
