Unfortunately it says that both sexism and racism are alive and thriving in the good old USA.

It only means that we acknowledge that this has not been done before.
I for one believe Americans have no problem electing a woman or a Black American as president.
This doesn't mean that there is no racism in America. Of instance it is a fact that given the choice a Black American will vote for any Black candidate over a white man 99% of the time.

It asks for the truth. There are still many in this country that would vote neither for a black nor a woman. I think that the person asking the question already knows the answer. Unfortunately it says a lot about us; but maybe not. Perhaps we are growing as a nation & finally realize that the question should not have to be asked.

It says that we are still a racist, sexist people. Personally, I wouldn't vote for Obama because I see him favoring foolish things (including abortion, but that isn't the only problem.) I have the same problem with Hillary Clinton: she favors too many of the wrong things; that she is a female is irrelevant to me. However, it isn't irrelevant to many other people. I expect to see guilt used as a hook to get people to vote for her.

It says a lot and that racism and sexism is still here. the effects of the two have us asking this question? What I find interesting is that the two groups (women and blacks) will be asking themselves that question.

That is exactly my first thought when I read a question regarding their race, or gender. What difference does it make???
