This is a small town, How do you feel if to get crime off the street and get the kids and teenagers off the streets and get them in volved with their community that they will truly love to do? I have an idea, I need parents thoughts and opions of this, I want to get a 10 bedroom house, or 5 , bedroom house, Make each room, a play room, 1 room will be filled with computers, the other will have 2 pool tables in it, the others will have slot machines and game vidoes, and a reading private room for books and all, have a complete kichen, full of snacks and have the kids come to the house the ones from 12 to 18 years old, after school and on saturdays, to hang out, Have the parents voluntter their time, to watch the kids, to stay out of trouble, have it open from 3 in after noon till 9 at night, week nights and then from 10 Am till 11 at night, and shut it down over the weekends at 11 at night, Have a patrol officer or someone from the law be a guard, so fights will not be accepted nor drugs

I have a couple of things to say,

1. i think this is the greatest idea i have ever heard of for kids.
2. i would like to share an idea that might help as well, instead of slot machines you can make it a toutering room, to where as there are alot of informational books, computers and a couple of dedicated parents that are willing to help kids after school with homework, assimantes and much more. Slot machines might get the wrong idea out to the kids.(gambling)
3. i think the pool table room should be combined with the arcade room, and instead the room should be a gym and in diffrent seasons play diffrent sports or have individual games, in that room should be a closet with all the equiptment.
4. i think the guard is a great idea
5. i think the kids should pay a dollar to get in or if the child cannot afforde the dollar but is needed with the activities you should be able to talk to the child and work something out.
6. the kids that come regularly should be able to get a membership card with a 10 use punch card, they may use it 10 times but buy it for only 5 bucks that will be the money you will use for expenses and so on.
7. i have many more ideas if you would like to hear them....then i'll gladly give you my email address.....alexandrasokol@yahoo.com email me for more......
i came with these ideas to how i would like it because i am a 13 year old child thanks and good luck!

Oh please, don't act as if it doesn't happen anywhere else. It's all part of being a teenager. The problem isn't the teens, it's the parents! My son rarely acted out, almost never disobeyed me, but often talked back...but that was just him trying on his new found individuality. Being an involved parent makes all the difference. My son has always been a fairly good student, is well liked, has never done drugs, was a virgin until after he graduated high school even though he dated the same girl for several years, is a hard worker and helpful and commpassionate towards others. He's now in college, having a great time, loving his classes, still works two jobs, still dating the same girl he has since high school, is in two bands and doing gigs all the time...he barely has time to THINK about doing something stupid, let alone carry it out. Sure, he got in over his head sometimes, but my partner and I were always there to catch him. We would help him see things from a different perspective and realize where he was stretched too thinly.

it is a wonderful Idea, but make sure you get a really good blocking software for the computers, you don't want the kids going to adult websites in your house. you also want to have an adult in the computer room at all times. the pool tables sound great, and the library room is good, the library can be a tutoring room too. and in the other room you can have video games, but no slot machines. you might can get 2-3 TVs and a gamecube, xbox, and playsataion 2 to go in that room. keep the games in another room and they have to "check out" the games and controlers to use them. this way they dont get stolen.

It sounds like a good idea, but think again about getting other parents to volunteer, Its a hard thing to do, and anytime you get a bunch of young people together, you will have some problems, I would have to agree, why not start something at the Y or at a church, and the other thing is if you own the property liability insurance does not come cheap.
Your plan sounds like a real good plan and I am glad to hear that you would be willing to take it on, but it does come with big problems.

As a teenager myself, I think this is a brilliant idea. It sounds expensive and time intensive, but if you are willing to put in the effort it will take to bring it about, I say definitely go for it. God bless you.

i'm a teenager, not a parent, but i think it's an excellent idea!! i wish my city had someplace like that, we're always so bored and as long as it's safe i think parents would love it too. the law enforcement might be your only issue- might have to pay for a private security guard. good luck!

I wouldn't let my teenager any where near a house like that. How do I know your true motivations? You could, for all I know, be just like Michael Jackson, and have some weird motive for bringing all the kids to you like that.

If you really want to do something like that for kids, look into developing a teen center at the local YMCA. Our county has 3, and 2 of them have developed teen centers that are really great. You could volunteer there, if you don't have creepy motivations...

That sounds great but I hope you have a lot of money to put into this!
Churches in my area do the same type of thing for the kids in our neighborhood. There is also boys and girls clubs that do a similiar thing.
I say go for it ...Good Luck!
