Because people are ignorant of what a business does. They do not pay taxes, long haired freaky person, They collect them for the government. The customer pays the tax. Taxation is a cost of doing business and it is passed onto the customer.
As far as the surplus one has mentioned that Clinton left us. How damn dumb are you? There can be no surplus if you add social security into the general fund and then write SS an IOU!

Another Republican heard from...
How do you think we can keep the economy moving forward if the President and the Republicans keep lowering taxes and then keep spending more and more money without replacing it.
When Clinton left office we had a surplus. We now, under Bush, have one of the largest deficits in American history.
So stop whining about how it's all the Democrats fault when a tax is raised to make up for the deficit.
I, for one, do not want to leave my kids and grand-kids having to pay off the debt we incur today.
And why does it always have to come down to name calling...?

The Democrats cannot raise the price of a gallon of gasoline, but they can tax the heck out of it.

Longhaired Freaky Person proves my long-held belief that there has never been a liberal who grasps fundamental economics. No company in the history of the world has ever paid taxes. They simply price them into the price you and I pay, so in essence we're paying the tax.
The Comrade Speaker, like socialists everywhere consider profit to be a bad word.

The oil companies will be the one paying the tax. And when the Iraqis get their country back, the oil companies will make even less profit.

Yea. We should let these hardworking oil companies pull in record profits. Screw the average american who had to pay 50 bucks to fill up his gas tank so that he can commute to work and pay his rent on a minimum wage salary that republicans fought so hard to keep below the poverty level.

Makes sense. At the moment you are stealing it from Iraq so the price is low. In a year of so, it has been worked out that they will kick you all out and the price will treble. Get ready is what they are saying.

I'm sure glad there are people like you who can see through their actions! Congratulations for keeping abreast of what is actually happening and how they try to pull the wool over our eyes.

They want the extra money to support their stupid social welfare programs. That what libs do, promote social welfare programs because it's the only way they can get people to vote for them.
