i think emo music is a subgenre of hardcore punk music and also indie rock. typical instruments are: Guitar - Bass - Drums....

Emo(tive) Hardcore is a genre of music. It split from Hardcore Punk, in the mid80s, because bands wanted to get away from all the violence associated with their music.
Basically emo is better structured, and more elaborate hardcore punk music. Some bands started to add screamed vocals, but most of the bands seperated themselves from hardcore punk by writing more about life, rather than politics (which punk was all about)

I like most music including "emo" stuff...But I just like the tune ..not in an emotional or sad way...some of them are quite upbeat!its a stereotype of certain bands

Um, I guess that would be songs about sad things.
Usually the songs have guitars in it and all that, with whiny voices...??
Not trying to say that all guitar songs are emo, though.

The musical equivalent of a spotty teenage virgin who spends all his / her time in their room writing sad poems, picking their skin, hating their parents, feeling misunderstood, whinging, staring out of the window, going pale, hating everything and generally being something they will be embarrassed to remember when they grow up.
