Carlos Zambrano-obviously the ace
Ted Lilly-big off season pick-up the "average" pitcher
Jason Marquis- another average pitcher
Mark Prior-comparable to Big Z when healthy
Rich Hill-young starter looks to be pretty good

Not on list
Wood-reliever
Guzman-Not doing well in minors
Marshal-good utility, takes Priors place when he is injured

I would say the rotation has some holes in it. Big Z is an ace, no doubt about it. After him, you have Lilly, who is okay and can eat some innings, Hill who has been inconsistent but has upside, Marshall who is more of a back of the rotation guy, and Prior if he's healthy. Prior is the wildcard. If he pitches like he did in 2003, this is a better than average rotation. If he's ineffective, or hurt, and Jason Marquis gets the ball every fifth day, then this rotation isn't nearly good enough to compete.

Zambrano - of course
Hill - If he keeps his numbers consistent with the second half of last year is the #2.
Lily - the prime acquisition
Prior - all reports say he's healthy and has been pitching for 2 1/2 months.
Wade Miller - all reports say he's healthy.

left out
Wood - he'll pitch in relief
Marquis - he's terrible but will be the first guy they turn to should someone go down.
Guzman - will start at AAA
Marmol - pitch out of the pen
Marshall - will start at AAA

I'm going to say that it'll look like this (given Prior is healthy)

Starters

Zambrano - ACE
Prior
Lilly
Hill
Marquis

Fill-Ins (for when Prior goes on the DL in the second week)

Marshall
Miller
Rusch

It will be the same as last year. Zombrano will pitch the entire year and Prior, Woods, Lidle, and Miller won't pitch at all because they will be on the DL all year. New Coach same old Cubbies!!

(I'm surprised by some of the trades the Cubs have managed in the off season though! Your new pitcher sounds good)
