to quench your thirst

2007-01-20 08:42:16 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

Out of desperation of thirst.
Our atmosphere is dirty with all kinds of emissions from automobiles, factories, etc.
These particulates are in the snow or rain when it comes down to earth. Heard of acid rain? Well, in the winter it would be acid snow.
Have you ever noticed how "fresh" the air is after a BIG THUNDERSTORM? These things really clean the air with all the up and down drafts of air and precipitation.
So, I hope you enjoyed the flavor of your neighbors car exhaust or that foundry down the road. Maybe that exhaust off the train that went by as well. Or that city bus belching out all that black smoke. This stuff is in the air. It does return to the earth one way or another.
So, I'll leave that snow in its place for now, outdoors, untouched.
Readers can decide for themselves.

Who says they would want to?

Eating snow because of a lack of water would kill you - in an emergency situation eating snow would cause you to loose body heat and risk hypothermia.

All that snow really is is partially frozen water. As long as the snow is white (as opposed to yellow), you can eat it.

If you are stuck up a mountain, it's highly unlikely that you are going to stumble across a water tap (faucet).
