I'm not talking about a needy, clingy man who sends you flowers every day and calls every 15 minutes. I'm talking about a true gentleman . . . confident, honest, healthy, respectful, successful, and romantic. Men like that have been all but banished in American society, because most women see them as being "boring", and go out of their way to hurt them and take them for granted.
Chivalry? Forget about it. If you open a door for a woman, she'll slap your face. Grab a woman that you don't even know and slap her on the backside? She'll think you're the sexiest bad boy alive.
Then women whine about how they can't find a good man. A bit hypocritical, don't you think?

Here's what has happened:
There's been a trend where women have become much more aggressive, far less "ladylike" as compared to our grandmother's generation, for example. Many women today are far less ladylike in demeanor, dress, speech, and attitude.
Still, women prefer a gender separation. They want the man to be more "manly" than they are, for sure. To be able to be the protector (usually).
So, now that many women (especially younger ones) are less "ladylike", they need the man to be even MORE masculine and rougher to maintain the gender separation.
Thus, only the hard-nosed, loud talking, bad boy type seems (in comparison to the now less feminine woman of today) to be sufficiently masculine to maintain the gender separation.
So, the moderate, classic gentleman that you might think would be most desired seems like a "wimp" in comparison. Some women think him to be too soft.
The moderate gentleman only gets a second look after the woman has been burned by the bad boy.
That's the bed we've made, unfortunately.

I'll take a true Gentleman any time and I'll always pick him over a moron.
All true gentleman have been banished ? God i hope not I'm still looking.
You say if you open a door for a woman she'll slap your face ? what kid of woman have you been meeting? indeed not a lady.
slap my backside and I'll slap you on the face because your no gentleman.
Its all about who you pick, if you pick sh** for a partner that's just what you'll get.
Men and woman a like.
Don't put all us woman in the some category for we are not all the same
It's just that lately we are out number by the ding bats.
I can see why some man feel and think that way but hay you picked them over a good girl 98% why because there more fun, .there looks or because thy where EZ to get..
For both man and woman make better choices and you'll be happier.

Not all women feel that way, Mike. Trust me, cuz personally, i´d love to meet an actual gentleman... and i do know that there is a big difference between a clingy guy and a nice guy, and i am aware too, that they are sometimes put in the same category and also seen as boring...and i think any girl who thinks that and doesnt give the guy a chance really doesnt know what she´s missing.... and i can tell you from the very bottom of my heart, that i can only WISH to meet a gentleman/nice guy like that... Maybe im just crazy, but i dont see the appeal of guys who dont respect you. And i´d never slap a guy for opening to door for me, i´d think it wasnt necessary but very sweet, and so i would just smile n say thank you.
And you know...i know nice guys dont believe this when i tell them but...the only reason girls go for the "bad guy" type is bcuz they think that they can save them..they can see the nice guy inside them and so want to help them bring it out..and they find them to be interesting and exciting bcuz they think that they´re in inner tormoil..and somewhere deep down there, they´ve got a good heart. And you know, i cant say if every "bad guy" in the world´s like that but, i can say that quite alot of them really do have sweet souls..everyones got a heart..you just need the right person to find it for you sometimes.
So you see, the only reason girls go for guys like that is to find the nice guy in them..and gentlemen already are nice guys..So i just wanted to point out that...deep down, every girl just wants the same thing. A sweet guy who´ll treat her good and love her back just the way she loves him.
I know this all sounds a bit crazy and everything but it really is the truth..well, its my opinion anyway...and i know that alot of gentlemen think that they are unappreciated and i can understand why you feel that way too...and i am sorry that it comes off like that often in society...but let me just say that you most definitely are NOT unappreciated. So please dont ever stop being who you are, alright? Cuz we girls really do adore you gentleman guys. =)

I am married to a gentleman. A good honest hard working family protecting man. They are out there and smart women appreciate them. People see too much media crap that fills there heads with strange notions of what a relationship is; it is a sad state for women. And a even sadder state for young men who don't realize it is their placement in life. A real man protects and adores the woman he loves and gives them a trusting stable home to live in. Most men can't state they can do that or even believe in that anymore.

I apprechiate men with manners and that is what attracted me to my husband he sent me flowers every day and still 9 years on is a true gentleman.... I expect chivalry and i would be offended if a man did not open a door for me ...Maybe this is the new generation i love men to be gentlemen and i am trainning my boy to be the same

Most of the time, women (younger girls, mainly, to be more exact) hang out with the dickheads because the dickheads reinforce most of the negative stereotypes about men. And if these women have reinforcements for men's generalized bad behavior, they have more reason to male-bash, which is something women LOVE to do, generally speaking.

yes, I do think it is hypocritical, I personally love a gentleman and think that it is this generation of mothers that need to teach their boy children to be gentlemen and their girl children to expect it, at the same time women need to have class and act like ladies again, I think we can accomplish this and still have all our rights that we fought for, and quit crying about a man opening a door simply because we can do it for ourselves, I love it when men do this for me, in return they get a smile, and a "thank you sir"!

It seems like most women want to be treated like b*tches and ho's these days. Just look at the rap videos. It is kind of ironic that modern feminism in society has resulted in this.

Not all ,not all...I have found one like that and i cant say how lucky i consider myself...I think there are men who are like that and women who look for those just that they have hard time finding each other cause of all the wrong persons in between...
